live performance also from Cormac Heron previewing his 'Prolapsed Catholic Guilt Show' to be performed on 18/5 at the 12-Bar in London - Cormac's appearance on the show in March with his 'With Or Without You, I Can't Live With Or Without You' show was an absolute riot; he will be taking a break from live performance after this weeks show so it seemed rude not to have him in - the show will explore Catholicism, the fear of god and the theories of Einstein with the aid of the genre of punk - he's said there won't be any stilt-walking this time, but you never know! - let's hope it's all written before wednesday!www.cormacheron.comwww.12barclub.comin the bag - Julie's Haircut, Hotplate, Ralfe Band, Sir Richard Bishop, Zoppo, Dave Cloud, Ephel Duath, Vetiver, Beatnik Filmstars, Dungen, Barzin, Tells, Sonic Youth....

Skip McDonald - Skip McDonald IS Little Axe. originally from Dayton, Ohio Skip played the blues from the age of 8 (1957), although by the time he was 12 years old he had opted to perform doo-wop. Along with bassplayer Doug Wimbish and drummer Keith LeBlanc formed the house band for the pioneering rap label Sugar Hill, providing the music for some of the most seminal records of the era by Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaata et al. From there he worked closely with Adrian Sherwood on many of projects for the On-U Sound label, as well as spearheading the band Tackhead and working with Living Colour. He has been the prime mover behind Little Axe since around 1992, the debut album "Wolf That House Built" was a personal take on blues and dub, and was released to critical acclaim in 1994. Skip has continued to fuse blues and electronic music into this decade. Along with Skip we welcome back Rupert Orton from Not The Same Old Blues Crap (www.punkrockblues.co.uk) who will talking about the month-long Spitz Festival of Blues which will feature Little Axe among a large and diverse range of shows.

yee-ha! a blues and country special (only joking!) this week on the 'sHRiMP broacast live on Resonance104.4FM in London (5 - 6.30pm) and streaming from www.resonancefm.com
from Toledo, Ohio via Detroit we welcome radical blues collective the Soledad Brothers in for a live session - Benjamin Swank (drums) & Johnny Walker (guitar, vocals) along with Oliver Henry (electric piano, sax, etc) have been part of the hot Detroit rock'n'roll scene since the late 90s (first album produced by Jack White) - beautiful trashy, dirty punk-blues. catch them at the Spitz in London after the show (1/3). www.soledadbrothers.com www.myspace.com/soledadbrothers
we also welcome country singer-songwriter Hayes Carll - this 28-year-old Texan has recently issued his second album 'Little Rock' which true to his maverick mentality was released on his own Highway 87 label - a relentless gigger, Hayes has been over here for a short tour with Buddy Miller and has a solo London show following this radio session (1/3) at the Luminaire in Kilburn - a London show with Buddy Miller is on thursday (2/3) at Bush Hall. www.hayescarll.com www.myspace.com/hayescarll

Jem will be talking about his projects and playing some sound recordings/pieces from them. loads of info at... http://elrino.co.uk/JemFiner www.onearthasinheaven.net http://longplayer.org http://cosmolog.org.uk www.prsfoundation.co.uk/newmusicawardwe are also very pleased to welcome back Howard Aggregate - what spoken delights he has for us is anyones guess - don't miss him as it may be a while before he's back again!
